Incentives & Government

We Know How to Sweeten the Deal

It’s no surprise that so many businesses choose Indiana. With a highly favorable regulatory environment and a long list of powerful incentives, Indiana consistently ranks as one of the top 10 states in the country for its low cost of doing business. Businesses here also enjoy a low corporate flat-rate tax on adjusted gross income and pay no taxes on gross receipts or inventory.

Indiana offers a wide variety of incentives including performance-based incentives for companies that are starting, relocating, or expanding operations in the state. Funding decisions are based on several factors, including job creation, payroll figures, fixed-asset investment commitment, project location and project return on investment.

Cass County and Logansport, Indiana have followed the state’s lead in creating a business-friendly environment and developing several local-level incentives, including:

  • Property Tax Abatements based on qualifying new investments, retained and committed jobs, wages, and economic impacts that a business brings to the area.
  • The Cass County Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District which generates property taxes from new construction to be invested back into the community, financing public infrastructure, land acquisition, site improvements, and other projects that benefit the public.
  • The Economic Development Income Tax (EDIT) Fund, which comes from an individual economic development tax on wages and is traditionally set aside for incentives to support exceptional economic development projects throughout the county.

Cass County is also part of the Greater Indianapolis Foreign Trade Zone #72 – also known as InZone – offering additional benefits to businesses that import or export goods, including the delay, reduction, or elimination of customs duties for imports.
